I also got to watch several other procedures while I was waiting.

 Here are some of our CD's being shrink wrapped.

 Here's Ester hand collating our colored paper.

These are HUGE stacks of KBC books waiting to be bound!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then I got to watch them go through each step of the printing process for my books and it was so neat!!
 Here's a stack of the inside pages to my books straight out of the hopper!
The covers printing...
 and binding.
 It's hard to believe my name is now printed on an actual product!!
 Now for trimming.
This was such fun! I truly appreciate Eloise and Chad at Country Pines showing me around and letting me see all of the back end to the production of my books!
We finally left Shoals around 4pm and headed up to Terre Haute for the night. We had a nice dinner and then spent the rest of the evening bouncing ideas off of one another and talking through alot of things we want to do further down the road. So keep an eye out, there are great things in the making at Knowledge Box Central!
KBC Day THREE Journey To...
As we come to the end of the day we are exhausted and ready for bed, but we still have so much work to do. It looks like tonight may be a late one. We spent most of today at Country Pines Printing going over cover images, orders and printing options. Tonight we are working diligently on printing specs for EACH of our almost 200 products to be sure that every product shipped out is the best possible quality it can be.
Tomorrow we are hoping to spend a little more time with them and then begin making our way to Illinois. But before that is the best part... I get to see each of my books for the first time! I am so excited! I will definitely be posting pictures of them tomorrow night!  Not much site seeing for the next couple of days but alot of meeting with other people who help make Knowledge Box so great so that's a good exchange in my opinion!
We will be meeting the wonderful ladies from CurrClick Sunday night for dinner and then it's off to Rainbow Resources Monday morning.
We can't wait to see these folks and tell you all about it!
I do have to say that I am missing my boys a ton!! Braydon is having fun with his cousins so that it makes easier on me. :)  A big thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law for helping out while I'm away!!
Until tomorrow,
KBC Day TWO, Journey To...
Today started off much like yesterday went, "detour" after "detour". LOL We finally made it to Graceland a mere hour after we had planned to be there, and it was amazing. I got a TON of pics!! My mom if a HUGE Elvis fan and had gone to Graceland back in the 80's but the only camera she had only had a flash setting so she go very few pictures. All this time I thought she didn't get many because they wouldn't let you take them in certain places so this afternoon when I found out the real reason it was a bonus. Now my momma will have all new pictures to go with those memories from so many years ago. The pictures won't just be a treat for me, I know my mom will cherish them as well!
We didn't make it back by The  Mississippi River but are planning to on the way back through next week. When I told Braydon we were going to go back down there to take some pics and I would grab him a rock or something he told me to get a jar with a lid and bring him back some Mississippi Mud! He said it in this guttural smoker's voice and I just died!  LOL I laughed so hard!! Even 1000 miles away he's funny!!
After Graceland we downed a couple of sandwiches and proceeded on our journey only to get lost take "detours" time and time again... I can honestly say this trip will not be short of stories to tell and laughs to be had in the years to come!
We traveled through Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky and Indiana all in six hours today. I have traveled more than 1300 miles since Tuesday morning and after today have crossed 4 major rivers; The Tennessee River, The Ohio River, The Arkansas River and the The Mighty Mississippi! Each one was just as amazing as the last and I am in awe of God's glory!
We finally made it to this amazing little cabin called the Salt Box in the woods of Shoals, Indiana, and I may never leave!! This place is so cute and peaceful! Cyndi and I are hanging out, working on a few projects and just enjoying not being in the car for a few hours.
Until tomorrow,
KBC Day ONE Journey To...
So we're off! My cousin, Cyndi and I, are taking a business trip together that will cover multiple states. The next two weeks will be full of so many FIRSTS for me, as I have never been to this part of the country! I'm hoping to post a little bit every night to keep you up to speed with where we are and what we are doing.
We are coming in on the close of day one so here's a quick recap of what today entailed.
We have traveled through Louisiana, Arkansas and part of Tennessee. Since today and tomorrow are traveling days we are making the most of them and having a little fun along the way!! The car trip alone has been a blast! Did you know that the distance from to Memphis from Little Rock is only about an inch in Google Maps? LOL Like I said, it has definitely been a fun ride. I took many a detour today; NOT because I got lost, but because I wanted to be sure we saw everything there was to see in Memphis. Especially the shady parts of town. I seemed to end up in those areas more than not today. But it's important that you know I DID NOT get lost! :)
We stopped for a bit in Arkansas and after a small "detour" took advantage of some of a couple of July 4th sales. Then we were back on the road toward Memphis.
As I said before this is a part of the country I have never been to, so crossing the Mississippi River was a really neat experience for me.  It was huge! I can't wait to go back down there tomorrow and get some pictures. Here's a pic I took from inside the car while crossing the bridge.
***Disclaimer: I know it LOOKS like I'm taking it from behind the wheel of a moving vehicle, but I can assure you that is not the case... it is an optical allusion, I promise! hehehe
Once we got into Memphis we found our hotel, got cleaned up and headed for Beale Street. It was a blast! We did little shopping and then had dinner at a little Cajun joint called Johnny G's. After dinner we came back to the hotel and now we are both working silently side-by-side. This trip promises to be both productive and fun!
Until tomorrow,
What is /PEN-noo-matic/ suspension?
Our latest obsession is independent suspension...
You may be asking yourself... umm.... why?? To answer that I give you one word - BRAYDON. Over the last few months I have been educated more than I care to admit on this topic.  I did have to step in one day last week when he informed me that we had passed a truck with (PEN-noo-matic) suspension... yep that's right! That silent 'P' in pneumatic just found it's volume button!! He said it several times before my mom ears switched off and I actually started listening to him and then I died laughing!! Just so you know, in the event that you overhear us, that is now our new favorite word.
We (by we I mean Braydon) have been on a mission to accomplish this feat using Legos. He has incorporated straws, rubber bands, duct tape and more! You name it and I bet he's used it to build with! Not being able to pull of COMPLETE independent suspension he worked with what he had and below are pictures of the finished product!
Before you ask, no I DID NOT take these photos... that's our other newest obsession. Photography! This child is taking pictures of anything and everything! He loves to grab my GOOD CAMERA and run outside for an impromptu photo shoot. I have to admit that he does have a knack for it though!! LOL
An Empty Nest
April began with such sweet signs of Spring popping up everywhere in our yard, but we had no idea how sweet it was about to get! We have always enjoyed watching birds fly into our yard with pieces of this and that to use is building their nests. The sounds of baby birds chirping for their mother is also a treat we have grown to love, but when a small House Finch began building her nest in the rafters of our patio we never expected what was next! After several days of swooping in and out, the nest began to take shape and "Momma Bird", as we affectionately took to calling her began spending more and more time sitting in her nest. It wasn't long before we realized she had laid eggs and was waiting for them to hatch. Braydon and I paid very close attention to Momma Bird's schedule and were able to tell within just a few hours that the babies had indeed hatched.
 At first their sweet sounds were small and almost impossible to hear, but after a couple of days there was no doubt we had a growing family under our roof.
Momma bird was a busy lady, popping in and out feeding them all day long! We did a little research and found out that they need to eat every 15-20 minutes.  Most days (usually later in the evening) Daddy Bird would lend a hand and bring food in for them. He would sit just outside the patio on a branch or power wire and sing the sweetest songs to call for his mate. Momma Bird would go to meet him and return to the nest with the food he had gathered for her.
Sometimes Momma Bird would have her hands full with the little guys and Daddy Bird would call and call with no response. After a while he would fly in under the patio and the two of them would have what, in our house is called, "a heated discussion". LOL
I honestly don't know what they were doing, but listening to them babble back and forth made for some pretty interesting commentary from various members of our family.
As we all became aware of Daddy Bird's call and could pick it out above all the other birds in our yard, the moment we would hear him (whether inside the house or not) we would race to see what was taking place. It was neat to watch the baby's little heads pop up when one of their parents was near. Even before they had made it to the nest the babies could somehow sense that they were close.
One day in particular Daddy Bird a lot of time calling to Momma Bird who had not returned for quite some time. He even took to feeding the baby birds for the remainder of that day. Braydon and I were worried that something might have happened to Momma Bird, but were pleased to see Daddy Bird stepping in to care for them in her absence.
Luckily, Momma Bird returned before night fall! We like to think she needed some "mommy time" and had to take a quiet bird bath in another yard. :)
It wasn't long (just two short weeks) before our baby birds were stretching their legs and spreading their wings on the edge of the nest. We later realized that this was just an after feeding ritual that would always be followed by a poop off the side of the nest. (and sometime onto the back wall as you can see)  Braydon got a real kick out of that! Oh who am I kidding? We all did, it was funny!!
Finally, one Sunday morning it was time! The moment we had never expected to see was here! The babies were ready to take their first flights! It is important to add that the anticipation of this momentous occasion almost made us late for church! We rushed from one activity to the next, stopping off of at the window for an extended look to see if we would get to witness it!
Daddy Bird sat perched on a nearby branch, steadily talking them through the process! Then he would swoop in and sit on a plant hook to offer more instruction, and prodding I'm sure, then he would fly back out again to wait on the branch.
Momma Bird flew in with one last feeding for the trip and then it happened...
The first baby bird of the three stepped to the edge of the nest. He stretched his legs and spread his wings... and you can imagine what I thought was about to follow but luckily this wasn't the case!
Then without a bit of hesitation he swooped down under the awning and out into the yard.
Daddy Bird met him in midair and off they went!
I could not believe my eyes!! I had actually watched a baby bird fly for the first time!!
It was amazing!
As the day went on each one took their turn and by evening they were all gone. Sadly as I sat on my patio that evening expecting them to all come home and discuss the day I began to understand what the "Empty Nest Syndrome" is all about.
You may laugh at that or at the least think it a strange emotion but let me tell you why it affected me the way it did...
For weeks this had been an obsession for Braydon and myself and suddenly all daily functions had just stopped. No waiting for Daddy Bird to come calling or wondering when Momma Bird might return. It was all just over. This unexpected halt in activity and coupled with the hope of their return made me think of us. Not just my family us, but us as a society, a people, the human race. How often do you rush through your evening lending only one ear to the stories your children have to tell you? How many times do you fall into bed, exhausted from the day's events and doze off before your spouse ever even makes it to bed?
 We take these moments, the hustle and bustle of daily activity for granted and then one day it all just stops! Your children are grown, rushing through their own lives. Your spouse is still interested in all of the the things that you were too busy to share with him or her when you were younger.
And what are you left with?
An empty nest!
Don't wait until it's too late to enjoy your family! Get involved! Learn to love what they love! Years from now this investment will show a huge return when your children still want you to be a part of their everyday life and your spouse is that best friend you couldn't go a day without talking to!
So Many Changes
Well as you can tell I wasn't able to keep up with my once a week blogging schedule, BUT I have been cataloging TONS of pictures of all the changes happening around our home. So, sit back and scroll through some of the top moments of the last few months outside of the Donner Home...
The hummingbirds are out,
and not only are they enjoying the feeders and flowers around our yard but they've also been caught taking a quick bath in the spray of our soaker hose.
The larger birds have tried to take over the hanging feeder in our tree... much to their dismay they had to give that up and move to stable ground.
The squirrels are rummaging through the ground and various planters in the yard trying to find all of the nuts they've buried. Sadly I put all new soil in most of the pots this year so they've had to make due with what's in the ground AND what the birds leave behind.
The plants are blessing us with beautiful blooms,
and amazing smells.
 Some have even taken their time opening up so we were able to watch the process in awe of God's amazing timing.
And the fish are thriving with all of the greenery they have to eat!
And I guess that's a good thing because the birds aren't just sipping from the pond,
they're also stealing the fish food floating on the water.
A mockingbird stops by just often enough for us to anticipate his arrival.
And the young man of the house chooses a late afternoon on the patio to work on a loose tooth.
But the most exciting story of the spring is one this family has NEVER experienced before!
Check back next week to see what it is!! Trust me you won't wanna miss this!
See ya soon!
New Year New Me... well sort of!
Wow, last year was a BANNER year for me! I think I MIGHT have averaged one blog post every three months! Not my most shining effort!  I tend to stew on blogging ideas wanting the post to be PERFECT and then never get around to writing them before they become irrelevant and out dated.  Well this year I hope to change that! My goal this year is to write something at least once a week.
Think I can do it?
Yeah me neither, but I'm gonna try! LOL
Of course, I wouldn't be up to speed in the blogging world if I didn't post about new year organization!  First up on the "Let's Get Organized Agenda" is a new addition to my refrigerator door. As you read through my next few blogs (yes I actually have a PLAN for the first few weeks!) you'll see that I LOVE to copy great ideas. But I am definitely a recreate the wheel kinda gal! I like to take the original idea, research how other people are doing it and them shape it to fit me. Well that's just what I did with this handy little tool! A while back I saw a blog about grocery lists. This super creative lady, who's blog I cannot remember for the life of me, had created an itemized grocery list that contained everything her family generally bought at the grocery store. Then when they ran out of something all they had to do was check it off on the list.She always had a running list of what they needed and then just grabbed it on her way out the door.
Well this was great for us except that by the time I was done creating my list is had to be printed on LEGAL PAPER! I mean really... we're a family of three! That HUGE grocery list was a little ridiculous. Not to mention that it would take me DAYS to get around to printing out a new list when it was time.
Enter my fabulous smashing together of ideas!! I found a terrific way to make homemade notepads from a fellow blogger, Skip to my Lou. (This time I remembered to grab a link so I could give credit where credit is due.)
I then began the process of shrinking my grocery list down to a manageable size that was still legible and Viola! I now have this handy little grocery list notepad that hangs on my fridge but now it fits nicely in my purse!
P.S. I also learned that there is no better motivation to spruce up an area in the your home than to put pictures of it on your blog!
Learning with Lapbooks
Blessings have been all around me lately! I am thanking God for the doors He has been steadily opening. Let me catch you up to speed on the most recent thing I am doing. As I'm sure you know by now, I like to talk. Well now people will be paying to hear what I have to say! As of today I am the newest author for Media Angels, Inc. I have written a Thanksgiving Lapbook and have two more in the works as we speak!! I have wanted to be a writer since I was a little girl and thanks to my dear friend and mentor Felice Gerwitz that dream is finally coming true. God started me on this amazing journey a year ago when He led me down the path of homeschooling my son Braydon. Now that lifestyle and all that goes with it has erupted in my life! Our wonderful family has supported our decision whole-heartedly making the change in our lives that much easier. Now I am able to take two of the gifts God has given me and mold them into one terrific product!
Thank you to everyone who has supported me during this entire process and a BIG thank you to my sweet hubby! Randy has cooked dinner, tended to Braydon, done laundry and virtually been Mr. Mom in these last days before releasing the book. I could not have asked for a better helpmate! God has truly shown His faithfulness to fulfill His plans for me! I'm just trying to learn to stay out of His way.
Are YOU Turning a Blind Eye Too??
Recently I learned that even though my 9 yr. old son is obsessed with WWII  that he had NO IDEA what the Holocaust was! So as my curiosity caused me to stumble onto this video and I watched the first 7 minutes I was excited to watch it so I could then share it with him!
Little did I know what the true content of the video was! A fellow blogger that I follow has spent several months promoting "180movie.com" and even painted a HUGE sign of the logo for her front yard. I see her posts all of the time but haven't stopped to see what it was all about. Well, today I did and was I shocked! I urge you to watch the video below with your family, ESPECIALLY if you have teens! Then get involved! I drive by a specific building EVERY SINGLE DAY and never give a thought to what goes on "in my own backyard"! Thank you Jenn Hoskins for your efforts to get this information out and for continuing to do so!
